Hi Joe -

Could be!

Or maybe he left it the old way for many years to draw attention to his repair place. That's probably unlikely though.

Thanks for checking out my blog.

Hi Leslie -

I am familiar with Amy. She writes a really good Detroit history blog called, "The Night Train". I'll send her a message to see if she has any insight on the stairs. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for checking out my blog.

Hey Charlie! Are you familiar with Amy Elliott Bragg? She is a local author ("The Hidden History of Detroit") and speaker and may have some helpful information. (Amy is also very entertaining!) Hope you find some answers to the mystery of the concrete stairs! Leslie

Hi Jeff -

I've seen the stairs you are referring to at the Michigan Central Station that lead to the tracks. The ones I've seen, like the picture I posted, go to nothing more than an open lot or field. I can't figure them out.

You mentioned the stairs on I-94 near John R. It reminds me of the ones that used to be on the Davison, America's first urban freeway. Cool stuff.

Thanks for your comments and checking out my blog.
