I’m a Detroit resident and a marketing guy with a Journalism degree from Wayne State University. I’ve been in the marketing communications industry for over 20 years. I enjoy bicycling through my fair city, reading great books and listening to a variety of music, especially 1950’s and 60’s Jazz.

Hi Charlie,

Since you’re a book guy, would love to have you take a look at my new novel, THE PURPLES, all about the rise and fall of the notorious Purple Gang in 1920s Detroit. My main character walks everywhere in Detroit, describing it to his readers, kind of like you do via bicycle.

Charlie,
I really like the written descriptions in your stories which along with the wonderful photographs tell quite a colorful story. Someday I’d love to ride the streets with you, seeing all the sights that are missed by the masses. Don’t worry about me keeping up, I ride at least 3,500 miles a year mainly on mountain and cyclecross bikes.

  Let’s plan on riding together come spring time. Don’t worry about keeping up, I’m not a fast road rider. I’m a hybrid riding explorer. 3,500 miles huh? That’s great. Maybe I should worry about keeping up with you.

  Yes, after five years of writing this blog I decided to take time away from it for a while.
